The Local Excellence brand of markets was invented in Abingdon over fifteen years ago as part of a drive to offer a better weekend shopping experience in the town centre. It was conceived as a food market that sold locally made products and supported small businesses and traditionally took the "fifth Saturday" when there was one in the month which avoided clashes with other monthly markets. Local Excellence later expanded to take on the Craft Markets started by the Town Council and there are now 6 Local Excellence branded markets per year.

Please email markets@abingdoneventspartnership.co.uk to request a stall booking form.
We will require evidence of your Public Liability Insurance in order to confirm any booking.
When you attend a Local Excellence Market you have the option to just ask for a pitch and bring your own equipment or you can ask us to provide a gazebo and/or tables in which case they will be up and ready for you when you arrive.
If you bring your own equipment please be aware that it must be of a robust, professional standard similar to the gazebos and tables we use ourselves. (For reference, our gazebos cost us around £300 to buy. If your gazebo cost you considerably less then it is unlikely to be suitable.) When we make decisions about going ahead with a market in adverse weather conditions we base our decision on our own equipment's ability to stay safe in that situation. Garden gazebos, home-made weights and other inadequate equipment may be refused permission to set up if we feel that it compromises the safety of the public or other stallholders.
Our charges for hiring equipment are:
Single Gazebo (includes weights and sides) which will be put up and taken down for you if you are already booked into a pitch on one of our markets or events. From £15 .
Table (5-6ft long with white plastic surface) £8.50 This will also be ready at your stall when you arrive and will be taken down by us after you leave.
